Twelve-year-old Brad lives in Missouri with his divorcée mother, Ellen, and younger brother, Jeff. He constantly gets into trouble with his father Norman and his teachers at school e to his tics. In one class, his teacher calls him to the front to make him apologize to his class for disrupting the class and promise he won't do it again. Determined to find out what is wrong with her son, Ellen seeks medical help. A psychiatrist believes that Brad's tics are the result of his parents' divorce. One lady suggests an exorcism. Ellen takes her search to the library and comes across Tourette syndrome (TS) in a medical book. She shows this to the psychiatrist, who agrees with the diagnosis, and says that there is no cure. Brad and his mother attend a support group for the first and last time. From then on, Brad aspires to never be like the other members of the support group and to become successful.
At the beginning of middle school, Brad is sent to the principal's office for being disruptive. The principal invites him to the school concert later in the afternoon. At the end of the concert, which Brad's Tourette's tics had disturbed, he calls Brad up to the stage and asks Brad to talk about his TS. As Brad makes his way back to his seat, the school applauds him.
As an alt, Brad lives with his house mate Ron in Georgia, and is looking for work as an elementary school teacher. He is turned down after 24 interviews because of his TS. He finally gets an interview where the staff is accepting and they give him the job.
On his first day, Brad explains his TS to the children. He helps Thomas with reading and makes an impression on Heather, a girl with terminal cancer. Another student's father pulls her out of Brad's class as he fears Brad will distract her.
Brad meets Nancy on an online dating site. After dating her for some time, he invites her over for Thanksgiving back at Ellen's house, where he tells Nancy he loves her, and the feeling is reciprocated. He confides in Ellen his concern that Nancy will get fed up with his tics, but she reassures him that he must not let his TS get in the way.
An observer at the school assesses Brad's teaching, and the head teacher announces that Brad has been chosen to receive the Teacher of the Year award, which he accepts in front his family, friends and students. The ending titles tell that Brad got his master's degree; he dressed up as Homer, (Atlanta Braves) mascot; he married Nancy in 2006; and a photograph of the real Brad Cohen teaching his class is shown.

美國生產了多少個勵志片了?

昨天晚上無意中看到這部在HBO播的電影,看得我淚水漣漣。因為沒看到開頭,上網去搜,發現在港台有好多人也跟我一樣,熬夜、感動得哭。據說是真人真事改編。
英文名叫,front of the class。中文名竟然翻譯成 叫我第一名。
看過電影,才能理解這個英文名的含義。

看的時候,會一直難受。
因為男主角患了妥瑞式症,就是神經出了問題,他不由自主地一直發出怪聲,怪動作。這個病還找不著治療辦法。所以常常被人誤解、憎恨。
當然是講他如何艱難成長,最後獲得認可的過程。
但是,你會覺得特別難受,因為這種病不能遮掩,隨時隨地發作,比發瘋更顯而易見。光是看完這個電影,我已經都要被男主角的怪聲給折磨得頭裂。
他每時每刻都要承受很多痛苦,也受到了很多很多傷害,所以他最後能獲得的,是他值得的。

韓國有一部,光腳的基豐,也是講一個精神有問題的孩子,最後成為長跑冠軍的感人故事。但是,得妥瑞士症的人,除了這個治不好的怪病之外,就是完全健康正常的一個人。智障的人還可以活在自己的混沌精神世界裡,外界的精神傷害不太會讓他痛苦。
折磨妥瑞士症患者的,就是他的健康和清醒。當然,主角最後說,他要感謝的是妥瑞士症。他這么說,讓我幾乎要相信上帝的存在。

What makes a difference of one』s success?—My feelings after seeing Front of the class The film Front of the class gives me deep impression which describes an American boy who was born with an illness called Toilette Syndrome.

With this disease, he experiences discrimination for years. But finally, he becomes a teacher and lives happily since he never gives up his hopes and dreams.

When he was a little child, Brad Cohen was regarded a bad boy because he always makes wield noises in class which makes the other students hard to concentrate on the class. Teachers can』t understand him and thinks that what he does is on purpose, while other students also make fun of him.

What』s worse, his father also disbelieves him and there is a gap between the father and the son from that on. In that condition, how does the boy grow up positively and happily just like the normal kids?

As far as I concerned, his mother and a great headmaster he met when he was a child really have influenced him a lot. The most important person in Cohen』s life is undoubtedly his mother, without whom the little Cohen may not find the courage to live and achieve his dream.

She could have taken the little Cohen back home and find a tutor for him and limited him in the little space just like other parents who also have a child with Toilette Syndrome. But she didn』t do that and instead, she still regarded her child as a normal one and always encourage him never compromise to his illness.

In that way, Brad Cohen is able to keep an optimistic spirit though experiencing such an unfair destiny. The other person that is of great importance to Cohen is his headmaster in middle school.

One day, he was criticized and laughed at again by his teacher and classmates again for he couldn』t stop making such noise when having class. After his headmaster knows that, he invited him to take part in a music concert.

After the concert, he invited the little Cohen to go up onto the platform and express his feelings and tell about the illness to the whole school』s teachers and students. After that, he became more confident than before.

After graating from college, he was strongly convinced that every student was worth being giving guidance by teachers and developed a dream to become a teacher. Through his efforts, he tells everyone he could do that by his actions.

Finally, he gets popular with his students and wins other』s respect and understanding. From the film, I really understand that home and school ecating are really indispensible in our lives. Not only can we gain knowledge from that, but also we could develop the positive view to the world.

For me, the latter is more important. What』s more, I also realize that childhood is a very important period of one』s life in which we may meet many people who would have different impact on us to some degree. As a result, ecating in childhood should be paid much attention.
